Over the course of her nearly 30-year career, Dr. Erin Barber has served in the Development Departments of six nonprofit organizations, ranging from small, community-based agencies to large, multi-billion dollar organizations. She has extensive experience at institutions of higher education, including both the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC), as well as community-based organizations such as domestic violence shelters and health care facilities. During her tenure at these organizations, Dr. Barber raised millions in funding from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government sources by utilizing a variety of fundraising campaigns such as major gifts, annual funds, special events, and grantwriting.

In addition to her professional experience, Dr. Barber completed the Doctor of Policy, Planning, and Development degree at USC, with a concentration in nonprofit management and leadership. Her course load included classes covering topics such as strategic planning, budgeting, leading and managing teams, project evaluation, and collaborative governance, to name a few.

More than her professional experience and educational training, however, is her passion for and commitment to the mission of these organizations and to the people served. As Dr. Barber states,
“My career as a fundraiser has been purposeful and personal; I love the nonprofit sector and would never want to work in any other field.”

Beyond her career, Dr. Barber is married with a son and three dogs. She is an avid traveler, reader, cinephile, and, of course, a huge Dodgers fan.
